Web Link - See of Rome cracks down on false miracles
Bad picture of the Pope (biased reporter maybe?) but nice bit of information. I'm glad to see Rome is actively investigating these claims and cracking down on false ones.
I don't know to what extent this is wise - for instance, what if God wants to get our attention like, now, instead of after a Vatican inquiry? Their first response is, "shut up about it until we figure it out." Kinda like Watergate. ;)
The only circumstance where it would seem that the Church has a clear need to debunk, is if these apparitions are teaching people things that are clearly contrary to the teaching of the Church. Aside from that, I would think they should take a position that "belief is not mandatory, disbelief is not mandatory, skepticism is advisable."
Come on Wesley, my blog has 116 posts in it, you need to catch up. ;)
Just some kindly encouragement (and don't worry about readers, my 116 posts don't have any readers either, but maybe one day it will grow itself into a book! With a whole lot of very short chapters! :) )
Evangelical Anglo-Catholic Deacon in the Episcopal Church (Dallas).
I also received a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary in Historical Theology and Pastoral Ministries and am completing a post-graduate certificate in Anglican Studies from Nashotah House Seminary.
